Memorial Day Parade

Hi everyone,

Here is the info for the parade. Please have girls wear their special "hat", the tie dye t-shirt, blue or denim shorts, white socks and tennis shoes. Please let me know if you would like to walk in the parade with me. I need 2 other parents to chaperone since Erin has to work that day and won't be able to help!
  • Please meet up with us at 8:45 on Lillis Dr- CFGS number is 54.
  • FYI, it will be very busy and hard to find a place to park...you may want to have someone drop you off and swing around to pick you up.
  • I will be there at 8:30.
  • Daisies will be first in line followed by Brownies, Juniors, etc
  • The parade route starts at IHM and Portage Trail walking down Portage Trail to 4th Street (left) past the High School onto Oakwood Dr. (left) ending at the Oakwood Cemetery.
  • Please pick up your scout INSIDE the Oakwood Cemetery at a spot you designate or at Harrison Field (corner of Oakwood Dr and Roosevelt). Last year there were issues with groups parting at Oakwood and 4th.
T-shirts are ready for pick up! They look really awesome considering it was our first time tie-dying! I am home almost all week so please email, call or text me when you want to stop over and pick them up. I also will have your cookie prizes, patches, and miscellaneous sleepover leftovers for you.

Thanks, Michelle

Hello Daisy families,

Thank you to everyone for all of your help with the cookie booths! We did really well overall and the girls were super adorable the whole time.

REMINDER:

**All monies are due to me by March 28th. That is a little less than two weeks from today. I will be out of town from the 19th through the 27th so please plan accordingly. Please do not drop your payment in my mail slot during this time.

You can either pay for your cookies at this week's meeting or plan on getting it to me on Monday the 28th. I will need one check from you made out to our troop #90169. Please let me know if you have questions.

**Also, if you have more orders to fill, I need to know asap. Please send me an email with your totals and I will get them to you.

Once again, thank you for all of your support during this year's cookie sale!

I hope to see you at this week's meeting followed by our investiture ceremony.

COOKIES are coming this week!

Hello everyone,

It's finally that time! Cookies are arriving this week. I will be picking up our cases from the trucks on Wednesday, March 9th. I will sort them and then you will need to pick them up from my home and sign for them. I will be home most of the day Thursday and Friday afternoon for pick up. Please let me know what day and time you will be here.

Times available for pickup:
Thursday March 10th, 7:00 am-1:00 pm or 4:00pm-11:00pm
Friday March 11th, 12:00-3:00pm or 4:00-11:00pm

Also, the second order is due to me on March 16th. Once again I will need all of your totals by 6:00 pm that day. If it is easier you can email me your totals. If you have not sold any additional cookies please let me know.

**IMPORTANT: All money is due on March 28th. I will be out of town from the 19th-27th of March so please plan on either giving me the money before the 19th or dropping it off to me on the 28th. This is very crucial since the bank will be debiting our account and the funds must be there on time.

Thank you so much for your support and assistance with cookie season!

Best, Michelle

World Friendship Day Photos

World Friendship Day was a success! The girls had a blast and so did the parents! The girls worked really hard and I believe they learned a lot about Ethiopian culture, climate, dress, animals and food. They also had fun "visiting" the other countries represented by our sister troops.

For our country, we made prints using stamps made out of lemons, potatoes, wood and string. We then wove these together to create a "quilt" of artwork. We also stamped fabric to use as our table decoration.

The girls learned about ceremonial dress, beadwork and face painting. They looked adorable with their little painted faces.

Great work, Daisies!

World Friendship Day Event this Friday

Hello Troop 169,

The World Friendship Day event is this Friday, Feb. 25th at Bethany Church - 1235 Broad Blvd. Please enter the building from the small rear parking lot off of 13th Street. There are double doors leading to the conference room where the event is taking place. Please have girls there at 5:45 for set up and special "face painting" for our country theme.

The girls will be "traveling" around the room visiting countries and learning about the culture from other Girl Scout troops. There will be swaps, games, and food from all over the world. This special day of friendship and learning is held world wide!

Also, don't forget our extra meeting this Thursday at our usual time and place.

See ya then, Michelle

Just a reminder that the initial cookie orders are due on Monday, January 31st. Please drop them off to me before 6:00pm on Monday as I have to have all of our numbers entered into the computer that day.

Daisy Bake-Off

It’s time for our annual District Bake-off! The Daisy age level is going to be making “no-bake” dessert items. This can be very simple such as: no-bake cookies, drop candies, rice krispie treats, etc…

The girls will bring their treats to the next meeting on January 20th. The no-bake treats will be sampled and judged by a blind panel of 5th graders and/or adults not in our troop. We will also share our treats with each other for fun. All girls who participate will receive a fun patch.

The winner from our troop will take their entries to the district level “bake-off” on February 3rd from 6:30-7:30 at Bethany Church on Broad Blvd. They will receive small rewards/prizes for winning.

This is an activity that must be done at home with help from an adult.

Rules are as follows:

  1. All entries must be made from scratch – no box mixes or “instant” ingredients.
  2. Minimal parent help…we understand that these are Kindergarteners so use your best judgment with this one.
  3. All entries must be submitted with a typed recipe.

Have fun with this one!

District Family Skating Event, Jan 16th

Hello families,

The district skating event is Sunday, January 16th from 4-6pm at Springfield Lake Roller Rink - 220 Main St. Lakemore, Ohio 44250. I need to know how many of our troop plan to attend this event. I have to give the organizer a head count at this week's leader meeting so they will know how many to expect.

Please let me know by this Thursday if you and your daughter or additional family members will be attending. I have to let them know how many are attending and pay for them in advance.

Since we are not meeting this week and I won't be seeing you until the skating event, I will go ahead and pay for you in advance and you can then pay me at the event. Admission is 1.50 per person plus 1.00 for your daughter's patch. If just you and your daughter are attending, you would owe $4.00. Additional family members are welcome and are also 1.50 to get in. Bring your own skates if you have them.

Additional optional costs: skate rental-$3.00, food items, other extras at the skate rink.

Also, please fill out and bring the "Hold Harmless" permission slips that were attached to last meetings newsletter. If you did not receive them or need extras I will have them for you at the rink.

Hope to see you there! Michelle
